Best Nighttime Skincare Routine

Grab that pen and paper and take notes for this one!

We have all heard of the saying “I need my beauty rest” or “Be sure to get your beauty rest,” – but did you know that there is some truth in that?

During the night, your skin absorbs all of the nutrients from your products way better than during the day!! Plus, there aren’t any environmental stressors at night, such as environmental pollution or sun damage. While you sleep, products can penetrate better when you’re not wearing makeup because your skin can breathe!

Your night skincare routine is super important. Keep in mind, while there isn’t a one-size-fits-all routine, there is a basic regimen that you should have in place.

There isn’t such a thing as a single correct skincare routine! However, there is an ideal and effective way to apply your products. Whether you like to keep things simple by sticking to a three-step routine or you’re the type of person who takes on an 11 step regime – the way you layer your products has a significant impact on how well they work. The more product-intense you go, the more critical this order becomes.

For a basic nighttime skincare routine, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Remove your Makeup

Remember that your eye area is the most sensitive skin on your face! which means it is the first area to show aging. Avoid scrubbing and tugging at this gentle area – instead, opt to use a dissolving eye makeup remover and cotton pad.

Step 2: Cleanse

Use a water-based cleanser to lift and remove water-based free radical damaging agents at the end of your day.

Step 3: Use a Toner

This is a vital step in your nighttime routine! Toner is essential for balancing your skin’s Ph levels prepping your skin for all of the steps that follow. After patting your skin dry with a gentle towel, apply a quarter-sized amount of product by pressing it onto your face – avoid swiping it all over.

Step 4: Apply a Serum

Serums are a customizable step in your skincare regime – this means that if you have any issues with your complexion, you will have to select a serum product based on your skin needs! Try to focus more on hydration and regeneration!

Step 5: Apply an Oil

Applying oil overnight will allow the skin to fight against overproduction of oil and pore-clogging! Plus if you have dry or sensitive skin, it will greatly benefit from the added moisture.

Step 6: Apply a Night Cream

The last step in your nightly routine should be to apply a moisturizer to seal the effects of all the previous steps! Take note that night creams are a bit thicker and can linger well into the morning, so be sure to begin your morning routine with a cleanser.

Remember, it’s essential to listen to your skin! You are unique, and no one has the same skin as you! No matter what the experts say, it is essential to find what works for you and only you!
